DIY Bookshelf Dollhouse!

Greetings!

Just under two weeks ago on December 23rd at around 10 pm I decided (with the permission of my brother-in-law and sister-in-law) that I was going to make our 3 year old niece a dollhouse for Christmas.

Here it is finished, scroll down to see some of the steps!

Supplies needed:

  • Bookshelf or hutch
  • Paint
  • Paint brushes and roller
  • Tape
  • Scrapbook paper, wallpaper or drawer liner
  • Mod Podge
  • Scrap wood for walls and small nails
  • Patience

I started off with an older bookshelf I had hanging out in our garage for a couple years that I had painted a dark grey last year.  I painted the floors, walls and garage a light grey but didn't quite add the walls just yet.
Before! Bookshelf I had previously painted in a grey.

Then I went through millions hundreds of different scrapbook paper, wall paper and drawer liner I had in my office for each room in the dollhouse. I picked out some fun and colourful options for each room and began gluing each of them on with mod podge.
The drawer liner was definitely the easiest to apply without lines or bubbles like the scrapbook paper had.

Before the walls.

Lastly, I attached the walls with small pieces of scrap wood on each side of the walls with small nails.

Mini chalkboard, small painted furniture and tassels for the finishing touches.

All finished! Car and furniture added.

Complete. :)

Now it's time for me to get back to putting all our Christmas decorations away before our weekend starts.
I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and it's back to work for me on Monday!

Love, B
